I was not able to get out on the bike the last 2 days, so I figured I would punish myself for it.

Next Saturday? What ride are you taking? I signed up for the Tri-State tour on August 4th which starts in Hammond, which is also somewhere around 85-90 miles long.

Hey.. sweet.. wanna ride together? I'm going to be the slow poke with a neon green/purple Campus Cycli road bike with bright yellow aero bars. I can't be overseen that's how bright my bike is :)

I'll have a red helmet and a Nike bike shirt in white/green/red colors.

I'm normally training with 25 mile rides and I don't know if I'm able to make the whole 90 miles.. but maybe if we pull each other we might be able to make it :)

BTW.. you live close to the Wolf Lake? I've been passing by there a few times as sometimes I make a round trip through Calumet Ave and return home after turning on Indianapolis Blvd where the Mobil gas station is.

Next Saturday? As in, a week from tomorrow? My first impulse is to say that that ought to be plenty of time to recover from anything short of a broken leg, and certainly from a 10 mile ride averaging 15 mph with an elevation gain of 240 feet. OTOH, your average heart rate on that ride would have me a little concerned (particularly given that you'd rested two days before the ride), as an indicator that that ride was plenty challenging for you. I'm not sure that "recovery" is the problem here -- have you ever ridden anything close to 83 miles before?

Sure Thomas my brother and I are going to do it we do not have helmets and plan on 12-14 average gonna have to push him a bit to get him going but we hope to finish it!! your more then welcome to join us will give us all something more to talk about all day. And yes I live just south of wolf in Hegewisch thats my normal run if I get fancy there is a dirt path I take from cal park to wihala and go down 119th to sheffield cut across another dirt path at 129th back into wolf lake.

lil brown bat we did a 45 miler last week to see how we feel and I still had gas in the tank. I do the 10 - 15 a day pushing myself then in the evening do a slower pace 10 with the kids. for the last month or two. today was the hardest I ever pushed though. I feel great now an hour after the ride. I want to go back out right now :)

Be aware that most organized rides require helmets for all participants.

I emailed just to make sure and be damned its time to buy a helmet. They require you to have one

Oh my gosh, I've never seen an elevation profile so flat! (Not a knock, I just can't find a ride around here like that)

Good luck in the ride next week. Stay out of the red zone and the good energy from the crowd should pull you through any rough spots. Most of all, have fun!

It's along the Michigan Lake.. right along the shore... no hills along the Lake. :)
