I shipped my road bike today. I am officially bikeless for the next month and a half while it gets shipped to Africa and I wait for it. I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm so sad. Quick, someone post up the best deals so I can start ordering parts for the new Karate Monkey I want to build.

Surely you have a friend who would lend you one for a short time, right?

Steal one :D

Steal Tude's newly purchased one...before she takes it to police.

Ok...I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. I really didn't mean it. :D

It takes a month and a half to ship to Africa?

Things take forever to ship overseas. I had a postcard take over two months to get to Australia once. And that was just a postcard, I can't imagine something more freight-esque like a bike.

It's not as bad as it sounds....yet. Right now I'm still in Barbados where I know people. On Monday I leave and won't know anyone, or if there is even biking in the desert where I'm going. I have locked on a mountain bike for tomorrow so I'm good. As for shipping my stuff, it got packed today and shipping companies bid on it. Once they get a final price it will be shipped. That will be about 3-4 weeks. It's going by air so that is pretty fast but then it has to clear customs in Africa and be delivered the the embassy. Then they will deliver it to my house over there. It's a long process. 1.5 months was the short side of the estimate.
