Pacific Northwest - Hagg Lake Loop - Saturday, July 28th

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Starting from the Sherwood area at 9 am.
2 of us so far - anybody else want to go?
Be about 60-75 miles depending on the return route.

I would join you, but I'm too slow for you guys. I average about 17 mph riding alone, and I'm slow on hills. Last time I did my version of the Hagg loop (Tualatin, Newberg, Hagg lake, Blooming Fern, etc) it took me almost 5 hours riding time for 78 miles. Of course that was 2 months and 1000 miles ago.
I was considering that loop again for tomorrow, and now that I know that the Portland Velo Century will be in the area, I'll probably do it just to confuse them. (Several times I sent them email about their century, but never got a reply. I later found out that their century is only open to members unlike PWTC's.)
Have a good ride!
I might just be out there, seeing how it is 10 miles from my door to the dam. If you see a very tall guy on a custom Seven titanium, with the longest head tube made, say hello Mel.
Hagg, 11 hills not counting the dam face, I usually go in a clockwise direction, and then come screaming down past the gatehouse.
So you would be to the dam at about 10:30?
9 am at the Starbucks at Tualatin/Sherwood Road and Highway 99 - in the Safeway shopping center.
Frugal Guy - come on out - I got a really late start to the season and am not going fast at all at this point.
Fish - look for me to be drafting you tomorrow.
Mel - I think 10:30 would be just about right - I'll look for your Seven. I'll be on the blue Waterford and wearing the white shoes.

55/Rad I was at the dam at 10:27, waited for about 15 and then went clockwise. Lots of Portland Velo riders. Hope you had a good ride. Lets co-ordinate on something else.

I got to Starbucks right at 9:00 and waited 10 minutes. No sign of any other cyclists so I went ahead and did the loop solo as I had originally planned. Saw lots of Portland Velo folks in the Gaston - Hagg Lake area, but I was always going the other direction. (I habitually go counter clockwise around the lake) Ended up with 79 miles in a little less than 5 hours. Pretty slow, but one man pace lines sometimes are. :D
I suspect that Rad just had one of those typical family scheduling hiccups. I hope it wasn't anything more serious. Of course, maybe it was the fact that it was sprinkling lightly when I left the house this morning. Fortunately, I didn't see a drop after I left Sherwood.

I saw a lot of non club riders on the road. we went with the 21 mph group and it was somewhat faster finishing the 100k ride in a little less than 4 hours. We then met back at the Long bottom coffee shop of of Evergreen and had a BBQ. If you ever get the chance to check out the PV club do so they are great folks and put on great rides that are well attended.
