Are you all still eating and drinking or what? Report?

lol, we finished some time ago. It was a decent ride, but a little too cold for me (70-ish) and my legs started cramping about 2/3rd of the way through (where we hit the big climbs, of course). The ride was also made much more difficult by the gale force winds, which blew us all over the place. I probably burned an extra thousand calories just trying to keep the bike straight.

We had 6 people, 3 men and 3 women. The women rode strong, finishing the 45 miles in 3:15. We men finished the metric (which somehow came out to around 59 miles) in around 4 hrs even.

Gurana and bobby rode very strong, and my fat behind had to work hard to stay with them. I should have worn leg warmers and brought some cytomax, but hindsight is 50/50.

The good news is that Jess ordered the pizza a few miles from the house, then ran out and picked it up, so we had it waiting for us when we got in.

It was a fun time, and I think we'll have to make it an annual event. :D

On of the many fun things on the ride was running into the Michael P. Murad Memorial Road Race. Part of the ride was on the same route, though we were riding in the opposite direction (good thing for them or we would have demoralized them:D). I got a few shots of them racing by, unfortunately I didn't pull out the camera otherwise.

Great ride, great hospitality - what more could you want? Thanks guys!

What a crazy week! What's this world coming to when I'm so busy at work I can't even comment on a great ride I had with some other forum members? As it stands now, I'm doing more work from home at 11:30 p.m. and taking a break while my database... thingy... does its -um- thing. [Note: I actually got too busy and had to postpone sending until next afternoon]

Anywho, the ride was great, the company was great, the scenery was great... the weather was really good, albeit a little bit gusty.

There's not much I can say about this ride that most of us haven't already read about or seen from some of cydewaze's previous posts. I do, however, have a couple of personal thoughts on the day that i'd like to share.

Things didn't start off too well, for me anyways. I arrived at about 10:30 when the start time was supposed to be 10. On top of that i ripped my rear tube at the valve stem after inflating my tire (which reminds me - I need to replace my extra tube... also, I think I left my old tube on your work bench, paul. Sorry about that.) As a result, I believe we didn't get rolling until about 11:00

I did the 45 mile version of this ride last year and it killed me. This year I was able to do the longer ride, with more hills, and while it still challenged me, I was able to do it and still feel good at the end. There's a few reasons for this I guess. I've got another year's riding under my belt which has improved my mental attitude towards rides like this. Last year, when driving to the meeting place I remember observing the hills around the area and thinking, "WTF? OMFG! I's gonna dye!" (yea, I think in 1337 acronyms, bad grammar and typos). This year I had more of an "I CAN" disposition, and as corny as that sounds, it really helped. Hills that I perceived as being horribly long and steep seemed much shorter and flat this time. Kind of like when you revisit a place from your childhood and comment on how small everything is. I was also in better riding shape this time around than I was last year. I've not done much riding this season (< 400mi) but it sure beats the maybe 50 miles I had for the season going into the ride last year.

Looking forward to doing this ride again sometime.
