Eurosport just published an interview with Prudhomme who said they plan on working with WADA next year over UCI. My question is this a good thing, Dick Pound's always seemed like a pontificating bafoon to me.

Hmmmmmmmmm....I'm not much of a fan of Dick Pound's either. I would prefer that he, and anyone else running a regulatory agency, stay out of the limelight but he seems to enjoy it and has made a spectacle of himself on a number of occasions. I can't say that I blame the organizers though. This year the tour has been an unmitigated disaster with the scandals coming left and right. If what you're doing isn't working fully I suppose change is in order.

You realize that Dick Pound is currently the head of WADA, right? Pat McQuaid is the head of the UCI.
Comments leaving me scratching my head...

It's late on Friday afternoon. Read them again.
I think this could be a case of jumping from the proverbial frying pan into the fire. Although - if WADA can address their issues, it might be ok.

They're already in the fire. They're just hoping nobody pours gasoline.

I just read another article on the subject at CNN
http://edition.cnn.com/2007/SPORT/07/27/cycling.doping.reut/
This article states that Pound will be stepping down as head of WADA at the end of the year. But even with Pound out of the equation, is the move from UCI to WADA a good thing? What will the do differently?

ASO and UCI hate each other. Part of the reason (that's been speculated) that the Sinkewitz info was released a month afterward, and after the start of the Tour, was due to the politics between these two organizations. UCI wanted to embarrass ASO.
Simply, UCI wants to run ASO's business and ASO does not want UCI interferring...and this all goes back to the UCI Pro Tour deal. ASO controls most of the big races and UCI wants ASO to basically pay them to do what's already happening.
It's a power struggle and it's about money.
And it sucks. Add bad rider behavior and you get where the sport is today.
