Just thought I'd start a new thread for this to see who's interested. A roll-call if you will. This may also be a good spot to post details for meeting place(s), times, and possible route.

It all depends on when I can get down to Lancaster and what time you plan to ride. I would like to join in if it works out.

If I remember right, last years Saturday ride started around 5:00 pm (not sure what it will be this year). That gave everybody a chance to check into hotels, and relax a bit. It was just enough of a ride to work up a good appetite for dinner. I'm sure detials will be worked out in a couple weeks, and will be posted here, or in the other thread.

Hope you can make it,

Denny

I'm in for Saturday this year again. I say we keep it around 20 miles or less like we did previously. It really was just a chance to work the stiffness out of our legs from travelling and build a hearty appetite for dinner that evening. It was very enjoyable.

We're getting in on Friday night, so count Cheri and I are in. Well, maybe Cheri. She's been fighting a foot problem for the last two years and finally decided to have surgery to correct it come October, once 'her' riding season is pretty much over. Some days it gives her minimal problems, other days after 40 miles or so she is in big time pain. So she might give it a rest on Saturday so as not to screw up Sunday. So I'm in fer shure...and maybe Cheri too.

I would be up for this. What kind of route would we be doing. You can head out from 30 and get back into farm country really quick for a nice ride.

Keep reading. Starting around page 12 or so, it gets into meeting up on Saturday. (It's actually a little unclear which say they're talking about unless you read closely.) Although two+ groups of BFers will likely run into each other in any case.

Can't come down on Saturday - daughter's 16th b'day party - but I'll be there bright and early Sunday a.m. :D

Rich, it'll be great to see you again (Cap'n America this year?)

Actually, this thread was started to keep details about Saturday's Social ride a little more organized. That way instead of a bunch of different BF Saturday rides, maybe we could actually make it one large group. To try, and pick out replies about Saturday's ride on the other thread was getting confusing. I figured this would be a good place to post, and get details for the ride.

Also, the numbers being collected are for Sunday's ride. If someone isn't at the starting point at the right time, they can expect a wake up call from us. :D

Okay

Even though he has already volunteered, I would like to nominate Cycle17 as a ride leader. Having done this Saturday ride with him last year, I'm sure he will take good care of us. He will also make sure this is a No Drop No Hammerfest ride.

He has also suggested we keep it around 20 miles, or less. Just enough to stretch the legs out from traveling, and work up a good dinner appetite. Does this seem reasonable to everybody?

I was thinking we might want to try ride Number 6 from the above link. It has a neutral meeting spot, and should also provide ample parking for those who wish to drive to the start. Let me know what you think.

I don't know about the "intimate details" part, but I am collecting contact names/numbers, etc. And since I've already vowed not to stalk anyone, even though I can't make the Saturday ride I'll be glad to keep a master list with Saturday riders indicated. I'll pass it on to Cycle17 or whomever wants to take charge of the Saturday shinding.

I have no problem leading the Saturday ride. I'm staying at the Comfort Inn (where I stayed last year) and would prefer to do something over that way, but I'd be open to other suggestions. I agree with TrekDen on the mileage. We're riding the metric on Sunday and many of us are traveling several hours or more to and from Lancaster, so the Saturday evening ride is really meant to be more of a stretch your legs social ride, not a hammerfest or a "see If we can drop everyone" type of thing. There are some good stretched of road around the Comfort Inn. Last year we did 19 miles I believe. Then a bunch of us showered and went out to dinner together. I'd like to do that again this year as well.

Beth...I'm PMing you tonight...stand by...Captain America out. :-)

Ya know, chip - I wasn't part of the group shower either. All I got was a group dinner (which was a blast, btw) As I recall, my "shower" before dinner came out of a babywipe box. I'll be happy to share said babywipe box with you and Mrs. Chip

This kind of lunicy is exactly why Chipcom is one of the people I am looking forward to meeting the this year. I'm thinking if he is riding anywhere near us....it will be a pretty humorous few hours!:p Put two former jarheads together and you never know how crazy things may get!:D:eek:

Sounds like a good time to get started, and will get us done in plenty of time for a nice dinner. So we should plan on meeting around 5:00 - 5:15 pm to get rolling relatively on time.

Here's the Quality Inn address for those wishing to attend.

No real plans as of yet. Last year, the five of us tried to eat here.
http://www.hersheyfarm.com/pages/index.php?pID=9
We found the line way to long of a wait, and since we were starving I think we ended up eating at Ruby Tuesdays which was right around the corner, and a much shorter wait. I think dinner will largely depend on the potential size of the group. The larger the group will usually come with a longer wait. We may be able to make reservations, but not knowing our actual group size would make that hard.

We may just have to wait, and see what happens. Of course this is just my thinking process. If somebody has a suggestion, I'm sure we'll be open for it.

+1... Good place. I've been to lancaster too many times for work...

Lancaster brewing has good food and good beers:
http://www.lancasterbrewing.com/menu.html

The Catacomb's restaurant at Bube's brewery is very good too:
http://www.bubesbrewery.com/catacombs.htm

There's also the buffets like Millers and Shady Maple:
http://www.amishexperience.com/smorg.html
http://www.shady-maple.com/hotbuffet.html

Tobias S Frogg is suppossed to be good, although I haven't eaten there:
http://www.tobiasfrogg.com/FroggMenu.htm

Fiorentino's is good:
http://www.fiorentinos.com/menus.html

and then there's the Quips pub (aka... dive bar pub with good grub, beer and darts):
http://www.quipspub.com/

I hear the House of Pasta has horseshoes :)... oh, and pasta :D

I may be meeting up with some friends in the area saturday, but that could very easily fall through. If it does, I'll be up for the sat ride too.

The Saturday evening ride will roll out at 5:30 pm from the front-left parking lot of the Quality Inn in Lancaster. Located at 2363 Oregon Pike. We will meet/group at this location and I will be there by right about 5 pm and will scout the route again beforehand.

Again...this is a social ride of 18-20 miles and is meant to just give folks who spent the day/afternoon cramped up in their vehicles a chance to stretch their legs a bit and meet some other BF members. Dinner will follow the ride at a place to be decided based on the size of the group.

See you all soon!

No 7:30 AM social ride that I know of. We're not even leaving Pittsburgh until 10:00 AM tomorrow. About a 4 hour drive, and a stop for lunch should get us in Lancaster just in time to check-into the hotel, relax a bit, and get ready for the 5:30 PM social ride.

So the Saturday BikeForums social ride is complete. We had a good ride and a good turnout. One member of our cast did not make the ride when they twisted their knee prior to us rolling out. We did 17.75 miles and everyone made it back safely. It was a fairly nice evening with some good breezes and good company. Here are a couple of pictures.

Twas a nice ride, despite the car that tried to take out our entire group about 1/4 mile after we started. Good thing I brought my telepathic powers along. Thanks for leading it, skipper.
