Posted this on Road Bikes Forum, they suggested I try here as well, so here goes:
I need some advice! I'm a mtn biker, I want to get into road biking, an friend has offered me a Specialized Allez Transition (90's model) in great shape for around $200. The bike looks low mileage, CrMo frame, 105 components. Is this a reasonable price, or should I shop around? I don't really want to spend $1200 for a new bike! - Thanks for the help.

Hey masher, where are you located? I think it sounds like a pretty good deal, myself. Some markets are very pricey, some not so. But I would think this sounds reasonable.
Have you got photos?
The first year for the Transition was 1991. It did use 105SC that year and retailed for $922 US. So yes, $200 is very reasonable, provided the condition is as you say and it fits you properly..

Haven't made up my mind yet, probably will this week. I'll probably get it though, can't pass up a good deal.

I was tempted at the Seattle swap meet by a similar bike @ same price but builtup with Campy Daytona. I passed though, because it was high mileage & had a broken right shifter. This one looks good for the $$
