I dunno... He's a talented guitarist with an incredible familiarity of the fret board, but IMO the timing was way too choppy instead of flowing smoothly. But that's just me. :)

Very nice, it's kind of folksy.. btw, I despise pretty much anyone who can play chord melodies on the guitar, playing chord + melodies (+ base lines!) at the same time is just sick man. . it's kind of like being able to solve a rubik's cube in under a minute the first time you pick it up, -it's just not 'natural' to possess such abilities. non. :P

Speaking of chord melodie soloist savants, has anybody else have ''Chord Chemistry'' - by this guy? (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=MEvN7QtqDK4) As far as I know, he is like the Bobby Fischer of chord melodie fretboard magicians.

Yngwie Malmsteens' live version of Icarus' Dream Suite is a pretty amazing little piece.....
I was always a bit partial to The Verve's intro to "Bittersweet Symphony" too, with the violin and cello (I like the extended version).
And lastly....Rodrigo's "Concerto de Aranjuez"....
I think this is amazing!

Yeah, I really love their version as well. Far better than the Thin Lizzy version, IMHO.
But doesn't it kinda sound like he's singing "whiskey in the gyro"? :p :D

Actually, that doesn't look all that difficult.. it's just a lot of fingerpicking and tappin', but no weird chord shapes with/moving lines or anything compliplicational like that.

He reminds me of a teacher i had in high school, only not as much of a scrub.
He can sure finger pick though man...hummm hmmm
Seriously, if you close your eyes you swear there are two guitars.
This is from his website:
It was sometime in 1957 at a friend's house that I first heard a Chet Atkins record of solo guitar, and boy was I excited, overwhelmed, and frustrated all at the same time! I thought this guy must have 35 fingers and at least three hands! My family finally bought a record player and I was able to buy my first of many Chet records. I used to sit for hours listening to him play the bass, chords and melody ALL at the same time, but unable to figure out how he did it. It wasn't until I was about 14 that I finally saw him play on TV and was able to see for sure that he really had only 10 fingers like myself, and with this visual reassurance by midnight I was playing, more or less, the piece he had just performed on TV. For me the puzzle had been solved and my interest in trying to play pieces of Chet's soon started to fade to be replaced by a desire to try and arrange my own pieces in a solo style. Somehow the idea of copying something that had already been done did not really interest me once I had understood how it was accomplished.
Ironically, Chet Atkins is also one of the many people who inspired me to pick up a guitar. Though, i still can't come close to pretending to be him. Oh right, and this exact recording by Tommy Emanuel http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=mYzajpeAWuA&mode=related&search=

That was pretty amazing. The first time I saw this guy was on BET playing a live (on stage) castles made of sand/little wing medley with his wife Patty. It was enough to make me go and purchase their CD, (I think it's called 'Love Warriors' or something). It's got some decent renditions of some Stevie tunes (like 'If It's Magic') and some spirituals type stuff, but the centre pieces where Castles/Little Wing and his solo version of Europa - which was my favorite track on the CD. The only thing was that I remembered him playing a lot of identical parts from the Castles/Little wing on the album version - as he had played live on stage when I had seen them perform on BET, the same thing is true with the album version of Europa vs. this youtube video. I wonder if these performances were the ones recorded for the album or what?

''I Wish''.. Bad ass.
"Looking back on when I Was a little nappy headed boy
When my only worry was for Christmas what would be my toy
Even though we sometimes
Would not get a thing
We were happy with the
Joy the day would bring!
Sneaking out the back door
To hang out with those hoodlum friends of mine
Greeted at the back door
With boy thought I told you not to go outside
Tryin' your best to bring the
Water to your eyes
Thinkin' it might stop her
Grom woopin' your behind
I wish those days could come back once more
Why did those days ev-er have to go
I wish those days could come..." :D
