View Full Version : I am going out on a limb Contador clean
With all of the doping stories, and discussion on who is clean and who isn't I have decided to go out on a limb. I am a little nervous about this limb, but I am out there.
I think Contador is clean. Okay stop laughing. From the beginning I thought Contador was overhyped, and was sure he would fade. I now think we have seen it.
Stage 14 Fresh as a daisy and gets the win
Stage 15 Launches several attacks puts Rasmussen in trouble, but can't stay away
Stage 16 Tries to attack on the final climb, but looks less impressive than Levi's attack. Cracks, and if the stage was a little longer would have been passed by Evans
Stage 18 Although protected all day he cannot hold onto the wheel of Evans in the slightly uphill sprint
If he wins the time trial I take it all back. I am beginning to think he is cracking, and may lose yellow tomorrow.
Saw away at that limb.

That doesn't mean he's clean. This is only his second Tour, and he's only 24 years old. That's quite young for a grand tour rider, let alone for someone riding so high up in the general classification. He was bound to get tired as the race went on.

I don't think so! He was already caught in one doping scandal; his name was cleared but not taken completely off investigation list. There were tons of roomers about this guy before the tour even started. Why would you think he is racing clean?
The answers are in my original post.

Being able to hang in the Pyrenees with one of the most dominant climbers of the decade, while he was probably doped up (more doped up than usual?)... that alone would set the odds of his being clean fairly high. Now throw in past allegations, percentage of top riders who have been proven dirty, etc. Seems almost unfathomable that he's totally clean. Remember, too, that Rasmussen passed what, 17 tests during the tour? Everyone assumes he was dirty (and I think they are right), but he didn't get caught. Seems the cheaters are still far ahead of the testing the technology -- perhaps even more than we know in the cases of the teams with the deepest pockets (hmm, who would that be?).
I have my opinion you have yours. The clean remark does not apply to the past either. I suspect he was a doper at one time.

Maybe everyone forgot about Isidro Nozal? Fell to pieces at the end while doping.

If he wasn't doping, he would never have gotten this far, and we wouldn't even know his name

Oh, come on. He's never tested positive...
That is not necessarily true. It appears to me there is less doping this year than 2005 and before. Sure there are still dopers, but some came in clean this year. I really can't say Contador is clean I was really just picking on the Evans is clean guys.

The guy should be on cloud nine in his position but yet he never seems to smile. The guy dopes and is feeling guilty about it. I want a disco doctor…

Just because a rider shows a small amount of fatigue does not mean that he did not dope. Plus who is to say that Evans and Levi are not doping. Then your benchmarks are dopers. I think this tour was tainted form the beginning. It was very exciting to watch; you just did not know what was coming next. There are tons of rumors that Contador only was cleared La Puerto scandal by the UCI, because he ratted everybody out to save his own tour future.
Let me guess; you think Lance never cheated either? ;)
Let me guess you think you know what you are talking about. You would be incorrect.

Yes, you have to give him the benefit of the doubt, so Contador is clean in my book.

Now I get it! I've read the posts in this thread and a number of other threads and finally get it. If you win (or won in the past) you must be a doper. The same goes for second, third and probably most of the top ten.
It appears there is one exception, Lemond who apparently has a teflon shield. (I don't understand this but I'm sure someone will explain.)
BTW, reef58, for whatever it's worth, I think you're correct about Contador. But then I think Evans and Levi are riding clean too.
Who can really say for sure. I only hope in this 3 horse race that if one of them is clean then all three of them are, and if one of them was doping then all 3 are. It is sad that doping is the topic instead of the fabulous tour we just witnessed.

You post a controversial thread, and have the nerve to bag people that do not agree with you. Why would I be incorrect? Read VeloNews his name was all over the La Puerto investigation. Clean now; maybe and then again maybe not. The Fatiguing that mentioned in the opening of this thread proves nothing. Maybe you’re the one that is incorrect, and by the way what makes you such an expert on Doping?

You are correct bud, His name was there, along with the rest of Saiz crew..
most of the spanish riders were cleared, by the Spanish courts, becuase there was no evidence of criminality... becuase doping was not a criminal offense in Spain at that time. Bottom line is the Team's DS had 30K in cash, was meeting with the dope doctor, and everyone on the team had their intials listed on some documents.. In an OB/GYN's office who is now known to be doping some of the biggest names in cycling.. Sevilla got nailed, because they had him on video tape.. he tried to get out of it saying he had a dentinst or some siht is the same building etc.. But most of the Spanish walked. How "Valve" is not Valverde is beyond me... but Spain, like most Latin Countries, hell, most Countries is Corrupt.. Saiz has always had dopers on his teams, and was very vocal in 1998 about how the riders should be allowed to prepare for races without the police intervention.
denials mean nothing, Ullrich said he had never met Fuentes, but turns out his DNA matched, Basso said the same thing, till his Blood matched as well, then he was merely "preparing to dope, but never did" yeah right.. His sister is Married to a previously suspended doper. The list just goes on and on..
I am not an expert on doping. I was referring to your Lance comment. I doubt if I am incorrect in knowing what my opinion is.

I think Contador is clean. Okay stop laughing. From the beginning I thought Contador was overhyped, and was sure he would fade. I now think we have seen it.
But this is bikeforums, where everyone has to think everyone dopes. Of course, the primary reason for this is because no one wants to say "he's clean" and risk being wrong if that person is later caught doping. No one on BF ever wants to be wrong about anything, so you have to say they all dope and that way you're safe.
So kudos for being brave and going out on your limb.
