...It's encouraging to see that there are more French rednecks letting their dogs run wild off the leash in a crowd than there are here in my neighborhood in middle Tennessee.

USA, USA, ...

I don't know about that. Where in middle Tennessee are you? I have 14 dogs that routinely chase me on a 30-mile daily ride. (The record is 18.)

I thought perhaps this was some new French protest. Perhaps too many "non_French" foreign dogs being allowed into the country?

No doubt. When I go riding around my parent's place in Marion County, there are dogs on my heels around every bend.

Was that 18 at one time? That's almost a funny image.

No. The most at any one time is seven. Separate category for pitbulls -- two.

Yeah, middle TN dogs seem to travel in packs. I've been nipped by five at once. Kinda scary, actually.

Heh. There's a farmhouse I ride by on my commute to work. I think the people who live there really like daschunds because they have three of them, and they all like to chase me. Now you may not have ever been chased by a wiener dog, but it's pretty funny. Their little legs move so quickly they're almost a blur, and their stubby tails wave like CB antennas in a strong wind. I like to slow down a bit to make them feel like they have a chance - it's my favorite part of the ride.

I usually lose count but I'd my numbers are about the same. Today 7 chased me in about 1/2k from three different jethro's yards. I thought I was going to have to go over the top of the last one, small dog, that ran into my line. I was not about to turn at that closing speed. A few months ago I crashed turning on a mid-size dog that started to go right and decided on left at the last second. Pulled a ligament in my shoulder. I think todays total was 12 over 20 miles. On a nice windy day I can do 35 miles with 0 dogs.

Once rode over the top of a pug with both wheels at 15mph. Crazy dog tried to come back after me the next day.

Two new pitbulls on the ride yesterday. Real redneck dogs have better teeth than their owners.
