Oh, yuk!!! This kind of tripe doesn't belong here -- I thought you were looking for a bicycle you could have a love affair with. That's the kind of soulmate you want to seek out on this forum. Suggest you try e-harmony or the like to meet . . . mere . . . chicks.

Leave the old bugger alone. Chances of finding someone meeting his cycling requirements are more likely here. Besides, it changes things up about apart from the regular "what size frame" threads.

but confusing a site where you go to meet bicycles with a site where you go to meet women is just degrading . . . . to bicycles. A special bike is a once in a lifetime relationship, a noble, loyal creature worthy of your love.

You come here to meet bicycles??? Personally I come to the touring forum to discuss touring .... places to go, what to bring, etc.

As far as the bicycles go ... it doesn't matter what kind you get, just get one you like! For the most part one is as good as the next.

Likewise with women. Actually, it was all meant in good humor -- don't take yourselves so seriously.

A lot of people here in the forum post something like this: I'm going to paris (or whichever) at the DATE. If someone who wants to come with me is welcome.
Why is this post is bothering you?
If he finds a woman to travel with here, IMO it will be great.

tudorowen1: I think you will have hard time to find here a women, because this is not a topic that interest women in this age, and also all the technical talk here ;)
I think you should invest time in finding a sole mate that with time you will enter to the world of cycling. Don't throw it in her face, she can just be afraid and run from it. But bit after bit works well, because as you know, you can fall very fast in love with cycling.
Wish you good luck, and I'm urging you to update us, if you found somebody and on your trips.
Good luck.

Yes, a joke. Just a little joke. So for instance, Machka, when I wrote "a site where you go to meet bicycles" -- that wasn't to be taken literally -- it was humor; a little play on words. So when you respond with an obvious comment like, "personally I come to the touring forum to discuss touring .... places to go, what to bring, etc.", it appears it has all gone over your head.

You've all created such a hullabaloo that no women will ever respond. You've completely ruined this man's chance of ever finding true happiness. Not to mention the fact that he's going to wake up tomorrow, log onto this forum, and get very excited when he sees that he got 12 replies to his post. 12 chances at finding that soulmate. Then he's going to see all this drivel you've posted, and become horribly disappointed and depressed. You should all be ashamed.

I think it was a great idea tudorowen1. Chances of finding a like minded soulmate here should have better odds here than many other areas. I hope it happens for ya. Good Luck!

Maybe we need a new forum - "Touring Companions Wanted". There's something like that in Adventure Cycling's magazine.

What on earth ARE you going on about?????????? Talk about blowing something WAY out of perspective!!! Perhaps you need to take another swig of your gin ... or maybe put it away for a while.

And BTW - one woman did respond ...... ME!

Oh ... update ... I see two women have responded now.

Actually, I think this is a good idea ..... and I like the use of the word "companion". As a woman, it would be nice to find another woman (or group of women) to do a weekend tour down the Icefield Parkway (or somewhere) with, for example. Just someone to ride with and chat to.

To the OP, have you tried joining up with your local CTC. I rode with one in Leicestershire a couple times, and they seemed like a nice bunch of guys. Several were in your age category. I know that might not be exactly what you're looking for, but some CTCs must have female riders ... the ones here in Canada seem to be predominantly female ... and even if you don't find a soul mate you might find a mate who would be interested in doing the kind of touring you want to do.

With all due respect to the OP, we aren't in the business of singles ads here and at this point, we have no plans to move in that direction. One good place to start is here (http://www.cyclingsingles.com/). Truly, I wish you the best in your endeavor.
