It's possible. He seems the most inspired at this point. Did he go out too fast? We shall all see soon enough!

Hes racing like a beast today. Riding an inspired TT.
Go Levi Go!!
I'm wondering if Disco intentionally has Levi riding at a pace he can't sustain, in an attempt to get Evans to blow up.

if he takes yellow in the TT, will we see a real race into Paris? That would kick butt.

I think that 25 seconds...if he gets it will be for 1st
I didn't think it possible, but Levi is putting in a yeoman's ride today. Stunning ride, Levi. Stunning.

Levi - the 2007 TdF champion? It's starting to look like it's possible.

That 10sec penalty he got on stage 8 is going to feel extra painful if its close...

The other question at this point, is since Hincapie towed Rasmussen and Contador to the finish a few stages ago, could that have made the difference in Levi wearing yellow after the TT?
REALLY painful...
Ouch!

Levi rode the time trial of his life. And, he pushed Contador and Evans to ride the best time trials of their careers. A great stage...a sunny day in the sad mess that may have been the WORST Tour of the past century.

He rode the time trial of anyone's life who is not named LeMond, Armstrong or Indurain. Incredible ride by Levi.

Incredible is understatement, should be more like amazing. This time trial by Levi was the best I have ever watched. I would have liked to seen him move up on the podium, but still the most amazing professional time trial that I have ever had the pleasure to watch. If you missed it this morning; do not miss any of the replays today, or you will be sorry.

how long have you been watching the tour? no way way this was the WORST tour of the past decade much less the past century.

Makes you wonder what he was on. Seriously.

+1, much controversy, but not the worst tour. Plus if you did not have a least one or two dopers kicked out the race; it would not be the tour.:D

I have to agree with you, but if he does test clean that was a fantastic performance! :D

He will almost certainly test clean. As far as the question of what he was on, the clean tests will only rule out that he is not above the allowable thresholds of whatever it is they choose to test him for.
Vino was betting they wouldn't do the homologous blood doping test on him, but they did. If they hadn't, the tour may have been quite different. And most of the gullible would have continued assuming that Vino was clean.

Ummmm....I think LeMond's in '89 was much more dramatic, seeing as how it occurred in Paris, on the final day, and resulted in LeMond taking yellow by 8 seconds.

Ok, I can agree with that. Not a big Greg or Lance fan, but I can agree that 89 was a great finish to the tour. However; today’s performance was remarkable; a 53.068 kmph performance. That is what I find amazing. :D

Levi rode so inspired today...I was very happy for him.
Did anyone notice how cautious he approached those turns during the TT though? Had he been aggressive he might be in 2nd right now instead of 3rd. I mean its hard to fault a guy who dominated the entire field today, but im just sayin...In his post race interview he even said he was very cautious.

I'm pretty sure that LeMond's final TT in '89 was faster than that (and is the fastest TT for the Tour).

Let's see. Of the ten guys who have been the strongest Tour riders of the past five years, half did not show up, due to problems with drug investigations, or "retirements" induced by drug investigations.
Of the remaining five guys, NONE will be in Paris tomorrow. How many people picked Contador, Evans, or Leipheimer to WIN the Tour this near? Exactly zero. Why? Because if all of the "druggies" had shown up for the race, and had been allowed to finish, Contador, Evans, and Leipheimer would not have even been in the top five in Paris.
TODAY was the only redeeming day in the 2007 Tour de France. Three guys who would never have been on the podium in a normal year all raced like champions. For one day at least, they proved they can ride at the very highest level.
The "expert" predictions did not go so well this year. Among "Cycle Sport America" "bets" to be on the podium in 2007 were: Pereiro, Kloden, Sastre, Menchov, Rasmussen, Vinokourov, Valverde, with their "experts" making Vinokourov, Kloden, and Sastre the favorites.
One CSA "expert" picked Contador for third.
And of course, Landis and Ullrich were not able to even participate. Contador is not the "best in the world", he is simply the best of the "showed up and passed every test" second tier of the peloton.
bravo for levi. i thought he was a little to cautious on some parts. if ,if if. i dont wanna do that. so ill just say,way to go levi.awesome ride.

This was a great one. The Festina fiasco tour may be one of the worst. And besides one great year, the Lance years were pretty darn boring.

Have to admit it was dramatic.
This usually blows up in my face but my heroes of the tour are Boogerd and Popo, both those guys buried themselves daily for the team. Popo seems to have matured.
