I'm 31, and the last time I raced on the track was in 94 (yes, I was in High School!). I used to race in Colorado Springs every Tues Thurs in a series. Been a while. I was part of a club called "Colorado JAM" (Juniors and Masters).

So this year I got two new bikes, both fixies for commuting. One is an 80th Gios in perfect condition. I decked it out, and I can't help but wonder how I'd do on the track again. So I am thinking about just heading back to the Springs and racing out of the blue.

Anyone here just jump back into racing after such a long hiatus? If so, what did you learn? What would you do differently? I suppose I'd prob want to just jump on the trach on a non-race day just to refamiliarize.

Tips, anyone?

By the way, I just watched "Racing with the K-Man" as he hit up the track for the first time, that was fun!

I made a comeback after about 4 years. You remember WHAT to do, but the legs won't do it. However, you sorta know how to look after youself, not waste energy, so I found I could hang in there until I got some fitness back. If you're racing 3 or 4 races in one evening go easy in one - I found I was exhausted by the time the last race (usually a 20km scratch race) came along.

I'm 30, the last time I raced was also in 94. (I went to High School at CSUDH and for PE they offered Velodrome.)

I got back in by taking the intro class out here at the Dick Lane Velodrome. I remembered nothing from High School. The feel of a fixed gear, the banking. It was all foreign to me. I bought a Pista and I've been going down for the Wednesday night races. I'm getting my butt kicked, but it's a lot of fun. This seems a good way to do it, just go down there and start.
