Hey all,
We are taking our first ever family trip (since having the family) Wife, daughter (4) son (15months) inlaws (they don't do much so good babysitting) and brother in law.
We will be spending a week up near the Big boulder, jack frost ski areas. The exact town is Albrightsville, PA. I plan on riding every day, and hopefully one or 2 longer rides. We will probably be taking some family rides (bringing the tandem and trailer).
The only problem is that I don't know the area at all. Any tips for some nice longer routes (30-60 miles?)
Also if there are any decent trails I may bring my mtn bike too.
Thanks,
-D

You may want to check out the Lehigh Wheelmen's website (http://lwa.pryzm.net/). It's a large cycling club in the Lehigh Valley, of which you'll be on the northern rim of. I think the website shows some of their standard rides.

Thanks, I also edited my post. If there are any good offroad rides I will bring the Mtn bike too.

D, I rode several times from Towamensing Trails in Albrightsville (we have a vacation house there). There are many roads you can combine: 534, 115, 903, 940, the road through Lake Harmony... Traffic is quite low, but looks dangerous. Wide shoulders on many of those roads. I have one route mapped:

Monday I'll be there and I'm planning to take 534 all the way through Hickory Run Park and return on 940.
If you want offroad trails, there a very scenic trail through the Lehigh River Gorge.

Hey, it may be weird but that is exactly where we are staying and apparently the owner of the home we are renting is named Chris. Wonder if it is you :D

D, who booked the house?
D, who booked the house?
My wife did.
It is this place

There is all kinds of riding around there- both road and MTB. Depending on how far you are willing to drive, there are great road rides every Sunday morning out of the LV Velodrome, MTB rides all around, and family rides on the Lehigh and Delaware topath/gorge trails. What is your intended start range?

Start range as in how far am I willing to drive to a ride?
I would prefer to ride from the house if possible. My plan is to get in a ride every day I am there. Most of these will be getting up early for a 30-50 mile spin so I am back in time for breakfast with the family. If there is time I wouldn't mind driving to a group ride. But since we will have just one car that would entail sticking the rest of the family with no way of going anywhere.

D, that's exactly our house, thank you for advertising it on this forum :-) You're in Kellie's group, right?
The ride I posted starts from the house. I can give you a few more suggestion for rides, if interested.

Hey no problem! Nothing like some free press.
Yes that is us. I already have that route saved in Google earth and as a course in my Edge. If you have any other good roads to ride around there that would be great. I did find a 60 mile loop on bikely which goes right past there as well. But I don't mind doing the same route a few times anyhow.
Freaky how small a world this is.
[edit]
Do you know of a bike shop in the area that rents bikes?
