Yes, I'm a FOOL! I went to Atlantic City yesterday for a little respite and wound up with a case of Pink Belly. Damn, it hurts! I thought I was careful with the sunscreen but I guess I missed a few spots.

Needless to say I'm HURTIN' something awful. One particularly bad spot is around my waist, so I can't wear my cycling shorts. Some spots on my legs and arms hurt so bad that I can't even bear the hot sun on the skin. Therefore riding is temporarily out of the question.

I need a cure, FAST!!

I normaly use California Tan Insurance.. you can find it in most TanShops works great!!! Clears it up fast as anything I have used, but it does run about $16 a bottle.

Hey MightyPudge;

Go to WalyMart and get Panama Jack's After Sun Burn Relief. It has both Aloe and Lidocaine and it works great. And it runs about 5 Dollars a bottle. I have some friends in Germany and everytime they visit they always take a couple of bottles back with them.

Hope You feel Better.

A sunburn is essentially a first degree burn. It wil be worse tomorrow. In the ER we give a cortisone shot but i usually take large doses of antiinflammatories over the counter and it helps the subcutaneous edema (that causes alot of the pain.) The above won't hurt either.

Pink Belly? Atlantic City? What were you doing? The worst thing that happens to me is my hand gets dirty from the slots.

I love Atlantic City, but I hate sunburns. Sorry, Mightypudge! :( I believe in essential oils, and here's a link to a sight that has some great suggestions! Feel better.

Something that I've often used to good effect (I live in the skin cancer capital of the universe - my home town has the highest rates of skin cancer in the world!) is the juice from a slightly overripe tomato. That really takes the heat out of it. I also up my water drinking habits. I'm sure I'm going to break 15 litres in a day eventually.

However, the best cure is prevention. I won't even go for long rides in "winter" without wearing Banana Boat Ultra sunscreen.

Aloe. You'll be good to go the next day.

Hot Bath
(as hot as you can stand). causes so much pain that
your system overloads and then you don't feel anymore
pain. Kind of a Stimulus Overload thing.

The other method I find very helpful is liberal application
of any SPF45 sunscreen prior to burning
Aloe works well too.

As others have mentioned Aloe is good to use. Before you go to bed soak in a tub of vinegar and water, sure you'll smell like a garden salad for the night but it will take the sting out.

One thing I use to treat sunburn is sunblock itself. Believe it or not it works well to treat the sunburn.

And if you have some a product called Silvadine works too. It is a antibiotic cream used on burn victims. It is available by prescription only though.

I'd like to thank everyone that posted useful advice.

And I'd like to smack everyone who smugly suggested that the best cure is prevention. Um, no kidding! ;) SMACK!!
