The difference between what I road on as a kid (Tempe, AZ) and were I am now, you really have to wonder if the road designers were on drugs.

Yeah I did some burb bashing on another thread a while back and got hacked for it. When comparing any two houses from the same bird's eye view distance, the burb's real time itinerary is much longer. Burbs were designed for motorists who didn't like the efficiency of city streets, so they conceived the burbs in a supposed traffic "pacifying" way. But in fact what pacifies one person is the hellfire of another... I don't like any form of traffic pacifying, because they annoy the cyclist at least as much as the motorist.

You really like to use the word comfortable. Funny, sometimes my butt's a little uncomfortable, that doesn't affect my riding decision, sometimes the cold makes me a little less than "confortable", seems to me that comfort is a secondary matter.

jesus, not to me. I want to be comfortable with the route I take. I'm happy, and I don't have to make myself uncomfortable to get to work. it might be 107 degrees but I'm still comfortable with my route.
