my first cruiser

I helped a friend at work find a new bike (Cannondale Daytripper), so he gave me his Giant Simple single. He said he rode it just a few times. I think it's 4+ years old cause I couldn't find the color on Giant's site. I have a few things to fix on it, but It should be a fun project. The bars have been removed immediately upon getting it home. :eek:

I love the Giant Simple series. They are very comfortable to ride and good looking too. Yours looks like an older model because it doesn't have the thick tube top like the newer ones. The color looks interesting. I'm sure you'll have fun on your new bike.

Free bikes are always a good deal. What are your plans for it?
cruise! I've been wanting a bike I can hop on and toodle around the neighborhood without getting suited up with lycra, jersey, shoes for cleats, helmet, gloves, sun glasses, HRM strap, etc.

I might use it as a grocery getter, or maybe take it to work and use it as a lunch time pleasure ride.

The rear hub was loose, and looked dry. (no grease) should I have it rebuilt? Also, the coaster brake is missing a bolt. Can I just use any bolt that fits?

Those handlebars look more like what should be on a Simple than the bars in the picture. What are these new bars called?

Have it rebuilt at a bike shop. Shimano E-110 coaster brakes are simple enough, and reliable enough, to justify having them rebuilt. The shop should replace the brake arm bolt as part of the rebuild.

I had the rear hub rebuilt, but only took the wheel down. It was $20.

Updated the original post. Not sure I like the bars, but it looks better. I rode it up the street and it was a blast even at 104* out side. :D
