This week, I'll be camping at Lincoln Rock state park. I want to go out for some early morning rides. How bad is highway 97? I would like to go around 33 miles.
Are there any suggestions?

The ride up to Mission Ridge gives a SCREAMING downhill on the return. another ride, head over to Cashmere for some Applets and Cotlets.
mostly back roads paralleling 97 to Cashmere. get a good map, it's sleepy hollow road, etc, with a little back on the highway.
97 is fine.
A little longer (you're on the wrong side of the river), or maybe you could get dropped off in Chelan, is out to Lake Chelan state park there, then back along 971. Fantastic climb/descent up Navarre Coulee.

Looks like I need to get onto highway 28 as well. Is that bad?

Thanks for the advice, I rode on the morning of four days. I rode down to the apple loop one day. I rode to cashmere and got lost... oops. My favorite ride was along 97 north to the 2 east up towards watertown. The climb up that hill was long but fun. I did see some snakes on the road which freaked me out. But my daughter was even more freaked out when she ran over a bull snake at the campground. I've included some pictures from my rides on my webshots album: http://good-times.webshots.com/album/560187991OMGGLV
Riding across the bridge on 2 sucked.

You aren't far from Mission Ridge, maybe ride north on the 28 then up into the mountains. You can also ride to Cashmere from there, that would be up 28 to East Wenatchee then cross the bridge, go up to easy street and take that to monitor. From monitor you need to go along the 2 for an exit the get off on red apple road. Follow that into Cashmere. You can go an alternate way south of the 2 but I got lost.

Nice pictures Dave. Did you feel strong with all the STP training in your legs?

Nice pictures Woodinville Guy. Looks like you had some good weather. I'll be in the Lake Wenatchee area this weekend. Looking forward to some good rides around the Leavenworth area. There's a nice little hill with a couple of switchbacks just out of Plain on the back road to Leavenworth.

I'm feeling pretty good. I've been doing lots of 20-30 mile rides since STP. Although I need to start going for longer rides in preparation for MS150. I've heard that Chuckanuk road is hilly.

Yeah, I need to remember the little camera. Wish I had it for STP. Good to hear you're getting mileage in. I've been really bad this last month - only 71 miles :(. (I promised all spring that I'd build the kids a treehouse THIS summer after STP, so now it's payday.)
