I went out for my first road ride today on my new bike. Didn't really have a particular plan I just packed some food and water and headed out. Well needless to say, 20k turned into 30k, 30k turned into 40k...until I finished at home at just over 50k. 52.74 to be exact. :D

I didn't plan on going out to break any land speed records either, although I tried to keep a respectable tempo. For the most part, I felt pretty good, except when the road went up and had to muscle on up. Its mostly rolling terrain around here, not too many big climbs. I also ended up pushing a slight headwind all the way home but it was all good. I also took a couple short breaks at major intersections ate, drank and then took off.

When I got home I checked my time and it was at, 1:56:32. I thought that's pretty decent. Not too bad I guess. But I also remembered Jan Ulrich doing a 47 km TT in under 1 hour. Talk about perspective. It gave me a good reference for the level that these guys are at. Simply amazing! I mean I knew it was fast but, "WOW".

Sorry about this long story, that really is going no where. I guess I'm still pumped about riding road for the first time and experiencing the speed and strengh it requires. Its also nice to know that as I get older, I still find things that get me stoked on life.

Peace.
