What does CSC sell? What is Quick Step? I think I can figure out what Discovery Channel and Lotto do. #What about some of the others? Thanks.
CSC - Computer Sciences Corporation - ITConsulting Firm - CSC’s global leadership is founded on our unbroken, 48-year record of delivering business results to hundreds of commercial and government clients worldwide. Our single mission is to put IT to work in practical, bottom-line ways.
Quick Step - manufacturer of laminate flooring that is available in the United Kingdom, United States and Australia; while co-title sponsor Innergetic is a sub-brand of Latexco, the leading firm for latex bedding in Europe.

Rabobank, Caisse D'Epargnes are banks

Its a bank is it not? Are you thinking Agritubel?
Yes CA is a bank
Predictor is a pregnency test
Lotto is the national Belgian state lottery - oh no it can't be, you can't advertise gambling in France, just ask Unibet.

You can if the gambling is state run and only available in that country. Unibet is a private company that anyone from anywhere can use, hence the ban. F1 cars regularly had to cover up their tobacco sponsorship in France; they are quite fussy about ads. Remember that you cannot advertise prescription drugs in Europe either.

Thanks, the pregnancy test sponsor is pretty funny. What would be the most ironic sponsor? Marlboro? Krispy Kreme? (Rass could use a couple dozen)

Why would you think that?
remember, guns don't kill people, nitroglycerine was created to improve the industrial world, the same these medications were created to help humanity, and like most of the time human kind used it for other means.

Barloworld is a multinational conglomerate that started as a one family business in the Republic of South Africa, branched into the mining world with Barlow-Rand, Was the first Caterpillar dealer in Southern Africa and is setting up a branch in Siberia. I'm betting one person, very high in the Company, likes cycling and the team will be sponsored as long as that person stays in power. Much like Disco was sponsored as long as a certain executive was there. He left. Almost at the same the ax was poised over the team.
Rabobank - Professional "acquisition" of funds from large "financial" institutions. Remember, "If it's robbery, it's Rabobank."

Neosporin (J & J) would be a good choice for a sponsor. I sure use enough when I fall on my MTB.

The sponsorships of cycling are very similar to the sponsorships of NASCAR. The drivers of NASCAR sign a contract to drive for a certain team as do bicyclists.

Those Serottas that were relabeled Huffy for 7-11 in the 80s, that's a funny sponsor of sorts. Funny thing about Predictor was I saw it and said "what is that, home pregnancy test?" Name must work. What the companies do is in the current tour issue of Cycle Sport. If you find yourself in a Barnes and Noble check it out and hork the information for free.
I like barloworld, industrial brand management. Whatever that means. Sounds like what companies say when they don't do anything or anything profitable.

Actually,
given the number of mini-marts cyclists now use to re-fuel at and rest, this seems like a fairly decent sponsorship.

Nope - another bank, a "savings bank" to more literal.

By the way, these companies have something called a website, and although most are European organisations, they do appear on Google, if you're definitely interested. Not trying to be arrogant here, just bloody wondering why I'm using all this effort to answer, :o))))))

See Post 3 (http://www.bikeforums.net/showpost.php?p=4956800&postcount=3):)
I have wondered about this for a long time, and the current thread seems to be a great example of the behavior of BF posters. [N.B. In this day and age, probably all posters in any venue.]
They read the initial post, and then take action:
a) Either they are interested in the subject and have something of value to add (in their opinion), and read the thread to find out what has been said before replying, or
b) they take the "whatever I happen to think of must be good since I thought of it" approach and simply respond and move on.
The Forums would be half the size if the former were true even most of the time.
This post is one of the few I have read where earlier posters seem to feel the same way. ;)
