Recumbent - HP Velotechnik Spirit Ownership

I currently ride a Sun EZ Sport AX (LWB) but find it a little long for some types of riding and particularly for transporting. I am considering the purchase of the HP Velotechnik Spirit (CLWB) but unfortunately bike shops in my area have never heard of it (and are only mildly familiar with recumbents). There are some web reviews about but I would be most interested to hear from actual current (or prior) owners of the Spirit and their thoughts on that ownership, perhaps some Pros and not so Pros.

The usual place to look for a review is on www.bentrideronline.com. There is a February 2004 review of the bike but bentrider actually sends you out to the company website where they quote Brian's review. You might already have seen it if you went there. You might ask your question on the bentrider messageboard for anyone who currently rides the Spirit. It appears to be an interesting bike but is pretty heavy at 39 pounds and I hope it is more efficient than the old BikeE AT I started out on.

Yes I have read the review, it seems to be the only one around. The weight (39) is high but about what I have become used to with the EZ Sport AX. What I am after is something with a bit more mobility and transportability (smaller wheel base) and I am thinking suspension would be nice (weight contributor).

I test-rode a Bacchetta Cafe as well but that has a front derailleur, which I can do without the hassle of. Also the hinged steering pole made it all a bit wobbly. Disc brakes and a rack both extras on the Cafe.
