The bicycle wasn't previously owned by Aimee Mann, was it? :)
ARX was not particularly low end, and lugs may or may not indicate quality build. I like the Zen qualities of the name. Point Beyond...what? 500...whats? Just what the heck were the makers thinking coming up with a name like that? Pics would be good. Find someone with a camera in their cell phone...

Ok I will try to get a pic tomorrow and upload it. I looked this bike up and over and POINT BEYOND is written on it same as Schwinn put their logo. There is nothing else on this bike but 500 on the top tube and PBC logo on front where the company badge usually are found. Bike is some off color light blue with shifter on lower tube. Thanks for all of the help thus far

Oh yes I do not know the owner personally. His Mother sold the bike and went by his instruction. I live out in Antelope CA just north of Sacramento well I guess you can say we are North Sacramento.

I have a Point Beyond hanging in the shop. No tubing stickers on the frame but I would guess it was Japanese built, early to mid 80's. Sun Tour ARX, forged dropouts with adjusters and reinforced bottle bosses similar to what I've seen on Schwinns from the same era.
I had started a thread a while back to find out more but no one seemed to be familiar with the bike.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is the bike only mine is blue. I paid a little over a hundred and it had bad wheel & rim. Wondering is it worth the money?

Hmm. Hard to say without pictures, but the frames lack of a tubing sticker point in the direction of it being heavier steel. The bad wheel should be easy enough to replace, as the rim is a standard issue Araya.
Funny, I got my bike from my sister who lives near Sacramento. She got it from a friend who was leaving the country. It came with Sun Tour barcons, which have since moved to another bike.

This person was leaving for Austria LOL. Anyway what do you think it is worth. Mine came with Suntour ARX front and rear derailers which may be lower end components. The Mother said he paid over 300 dollars for it but do not know where. The crank in super light AL with excellent seat post.
