Professional Cycling - Blew out all his spares?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hey guys
I tuned into the last TT about halfway through to see a rider finishing on what appeared to be his regular race bike. I'm talking about dropped bars and spoked back wheel. Al and Phil didn't say anything about him so I was wondering if anyone here can fill me in on what happened. At first I thought it might have been Millar when they said he blew his bike apart but I later found out it wasn't him.
So, some info would be nice
Thanks
I believe that some riders just prefer to use their road bikes. Not everybody really cares what their overall time is...

Yeah, happens sometime. When you're second to last place does it really matter if you save a few minutes? And for those trying to win the red lantern, they definitely don't want to gain any time.

I didn't see it, but not all riders have spare TT bikes. The team leader has at least one spare, but the domestiques are likely to just have one TT bike and their road race bikes for spares.
Another possibility is someone who is injured, or exhausted from the mountains, riding his road bike becauste the extreme tt position would be too demanding on the body.

If I recall, the guy was not riding in a TT helmet. So it leads me to beleive his just decided to race it on a regular road bike.
It's what Rasmussen should have rode last year.
I wonder how detuned his TT bike was this year?

I don't recall but you may be right.
I've just never seen that before. Thanks everyone
Sorry for double post but no one would have seen if I edited:
Speaking of blowing up bikes, does anyone know where I can find pictures or video of Millar's malfunctions? I wasn't able to find any on youtube or google video but maybe someone has seem some elsewhere?
Thanks
