I see that http://strida.ca (Yeah Bike) is listing the Strida 5.0 on their website at $799 w/ free shipping in US and Canada.

Has anybody gotten one yet, used it enough to post a review?

According to that website the price is actually $699 until Sept. Anyone know how far you can ride these?

"Anyone know how far you can ride these?" Wow US$600 for a 3.2. Anyway I have ridden a 3.2 along the mostly level New Jersey coast route for 50+ miles. I did have to dismount on a few very steep areas. I cannot stand on the pedals of a 3.2, the 5 has a welded BB. The high torque also causes the belt to slip, making a frightening noise, so I dismount (probably the same on the 5 but I cannot say as the main gear is different). There seat was getting very uncomfortable for the last 15 mi (16" wheels, a stout frame, and no suspension make for a rough ride). 6' 200lb.

BTW what do you all think of the US$900 for the Strida 5? Seems like Mu XL or Swift offers more value.

Kgibbs51: It's "$799 until 1 September" which is $100 off the "list" price of $899.

geo8rge: They can list any price they want for a bike that's sold out :) and I won't worry about buying it.

What do I think of $900 for a Strida 5? Dunno, because I would never pay that much. I don't think I'd even pay the "street price" or whatever YeahBike is charging once they really start selling these. I'd go eBay or similar grey market options. Got my 3.2 for around $400 that way just a few months ago.

I really don't know if the 5 is worth significantly more than the 3.2 though - that's why I'm looking for reviews.

As for comparing "value" - I'm sure the Mu XL or Swift both RIDE better than the Strida. But for the mixed commute, other factors aloso matter. Fast fold and unfold, light weight and a small enough package to easily get on/off buses and trains. This is an area where Strida excels.

The Mu XL weighs about 7 lbs more than the Strida and has 20" wheels; works against the mixed commute. The Swift looks good on weight, but the folded package size/shape may not be as convenient.
