View Full Version : Who does the graphics? Want to kill!

I don;t know if this happened to anyone else, but it really bothered me with all that has happened this year.
I roll out of bed and turn on the T.V. for the final stage. Plenty of time to the finish and there is a break going. No real news there, but the D@mn graphics show the time to the peleton and it has ONLY a yellow and green jersey in the graphics. No Polka Dot. Of course what comes to mind is that Soler is gone just like Rasmussen.
Why do they do things like this? I'm sure the excuse is that his position has no bearing (unless so far back he gets dropped on time). But still I found it disturbing.
And it took 20 minutes before they commentators happened to mention him. (That is no slight on them, no real reason to since nothing had happened).

They don't usually post the white jersey, or the most aggressive rider either. Frankly, the Yellow and the Green are the two most prestigious prizes in the event. Maybe if Fox begins broadcasting the Tour we'll have more graphics, and who knows, maybe even colored auras around certain riders in the peloton - but I'm hoping it never comes to that. :)

They had the Polka Dot in the Graphics for most stages up to that point. I think they often had the white also, at laeast until it was being worn by proxy.

I guess you'll have to ask Bobke then. :D

It could very well be that at that point, the KOM was settled and was won by Soler. So why bother showing where it is.
Since the green and the yellow were still up for grabs (technically anyways), it was important if a break broke out that included a possible competitor for Vs to track where the current leaders stood in terms of time.

Same thing for the White Jersey. Contador sealed that deal.
Best part of the ceremony at the end was having the 3rd place guy in the White Jersey competition stand up there. He I am sure felt it was silly, since he was behind both Soler and Contador in the competition.
Let me get this straight: Vs didn't add a graphic on Stage 20 (which is flat and largely uncontested by anyone, save sprinters) for the KOM jersey, so you're ready to kill someone over it? Mmmokay.
I don't recall seeing a polka dot icon on anything other than mountain stages (you know the ones with classified points climbs) anyway.

Actually I thought one little thing about him was a great sign. He did win an award. Most aggressive. That means we have 2 young riders taking jerseys and one that may be shaking things up for years. Perhaps there is hope.

There were 2 classified climbs on the final stage.
There weren't KOM points up for grabs for those climbs though, were there?

Classified climb means KOM points.
