I currently ride a Marin Argenta road bike. Nothing stellar, but it works alright for now. I'm training with the goal of getting into tri's. Recently I was given an Deda Aero Blue Aerobar for this effort.

Now here comes the dopey part. I'm not entirely sure how to put it on the bike. He told me I could use my current levers so is it safe to assume I can remove my drops, (I know I need a new post for this bar) and put my levers on the aerobar?

I hate to sound like a maroon, but is it that simple? Or is there a better way? Since I am still in the beginning stages I hate to invest a fortune in switching things over.

The further question is what else don't I know about 'converting' my road bike to a tri bike? Other than geometry, which obviously I can't change, I'd sure like an opinion or two about this. Thanks.

I can't imagine how you'd get road shifters and brake levers on that thing. I could be wrong, but it looks to me like a fairly standard Tri setup - you'd have to go for tri shifters and levers.

Why don't you just put a pair of clip-on aerobars on your roadbike and leave everything else where it is?

To be honest that will probably end up happening. I just thought since this aerobar basically fell out of the sky (it's a pretty expensive one as far as I'm concerned) it might be worth giving it a try. But if I have to invest as much or more than a decent set of clip-ons I'll just go that route.
