what are some good trainers to use for MTBs?

Most of them are fine but you need a pretty slick rear tire for the trainer to work correctly.

Just pick up any trainer meant for cycling that is compatible with MTB's. Nearly all of them are. Hit Wally World for a $5 slick to reduce the noise, and pedal away.
