THis seems to suggest that it is.

RTA Bicycle Laws (http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/roadsafety/bicycles/makingitsafertocycle/bicyclesafety/cyclingrules.html)

To clarify then, This means i'm within my rights riding in the middle of the red Bus Lanes around Sydney. And the buses & Taxis behind coming up behind me have to basically treat me like a slow moving vehicle.
(i.e. overtake by changing lanes?)

I occasionally ride up Paramatta Rd (Sydney) on my daily commute but I usually freak a bit at the buses coming up behind me.

Yes it is, but you have to give way to buses that receive a white "B" signal at traffic lights. Otherwise, you have as much right of way as any bus or other vehicle in the lane.

Yes, I also ride in the red lanes (around George St). But you can't ride in a "Bus Only" lane cos that's for buses... only...

thanks, I've been hitting the Red Lanes up Parramatta Rd with much more confidence now, knowing that i'm allowed to ride in them and the Taxis and Buses have to respect you.
