So I did my usual 3 hourish ride on Sunday from Irvine north on PCH and back, about 59.7 miles. It was unbelievable! When I finished it I still felt pretty strong. Was very surprising because on Saturday I did a bunch of hill intervals. Which is quite different from three weeks ago where I couldn't even stay in zone2 in the last 20 miles of the ride on the same route. I guess taking a week off really helped. Only other thing I can think of is instead of eating a cliff bar I was taking a shot of Hammer Gel every half hour. The same caloric intake but more sugar, and no protein/fat.
I averaged 18.7 mph, got to love that tail wind. :D

UD, aren't you from NorCal? Did you move down here or just visiting? Glad to hear you enjoyed your ride. :)

Yes, he is. And he rode Tunitas Creek with a cast on his left arm ... waaaaay ahead of me!

Unfortunately my participation in EC is under a big question. Not sure if my cast will be off by that time, plus climbing is putting a lot of stress on my wrist, so I am limiting it as much as possible. I think last Saturdays work out would be my last until cast comes off. :( Maybe next time.

Wrists and ankles, both tricky to heal. That road will still be there when you're ready for it, but I'm sure Bob would have enjoyed talking to you about the EC route.
