Training & Nutrition - Pre-Ride Meals

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Well, I usually ride around an hour to an hour and a half in the mornings and was wondering what would be a good, quick meal to eat before I ride. I'm back on a bike in order to lose weight. I'm lookin to lose around 45 lbs. I prefer something quick since I start @ 7:30 A.M. and need to give the food time to digest. I've read that meats and cheeses were bad which kind of sucks cause I figured I could do a small bowl of tortelline or maybe a small chicken and cheese quesadilla. But based on some of my reading, those are not the best things to have
Guess I'm basically saying I'm lost and would love some advice from people who have been at this game alot longer than I have

Any particular brand? I use those hot oatmeal from Costco, but it's a bit too sweet for my tastes.

I like the Trader Joe's instant oatmeal with flax. 150 calories per packet. So I'll often eat two before a hard/long ride. Not very sweet.
My wife and I often "cut" instant oatmeal with some regular oats. Maybe 50%. Add some boiling hot water; use enough to your taste--we both like our oat meal relatively dry--not that soupy mess that you see on TV.

My all time favorite is "Old Fashioned" Quaker Oats (not instant). I top it with Russell Farms U.S. Grade A Dark Amber Maple Syrup (the supermarket brands ie Aunt Gemima ect.. suck and are all sugar and water) and a little bit of fresh ground cinnamon. Takes exactly 7 minutes from the time I start making it till I start eating. I use either boiling water or 2% milk, depends on my mood. Absolutely delicious.
Sometimes I will switch off with Farina, also excellent for you. I top the Farina the same way.
