Hi all,
Picked this old track frame up on Sunday at the Herne Hill velodrome bike jumble but haven't got a clue what it is... See pics of lugwork attached... Guy who sold it to me told me it was a mid-60s Lobb frame... Can't find any reference to a frame builder called Lobb anywhere... Thanks in advance, J

Don't know what it is, but the lugwork looks fantastic!
Nice piece!

Nice bike. Whoever repainted it painted over the oiler cap.
Is it me or do the track ends look like they've been cut down (shortened)?

Can't say that I've ever heard of Lobb.

Hi Marty, It looks like they have been chopped... Pretty crummy paint job, lugs are drowning in powdercoat... I bought this as a beater fixie but I think I may be sending her up to Mercian for some much needed TLC... I think she deserves it... :-)

Interesting - what did you pay for it? The lugs remind me of something, and I'm not sure what, but I'm thinking I need to pop up to Herne Hill! You'd get a great result by asking on the Classic Rendezvous email list.

One I've never heard of, either, but obviously a high-quality bike, shame that the PC has gobbed over the lugwork, but nothing a bead-blaster can't solve. I think the rear track-ends look to be "finished" I think it's intentional that they be this short, not a chop-job...but if you strip it down to bare metal you may see clues to tell for sure. Is the fork drilled for a brake? May be a path/track bike...at any rate it deserves more than "beater" status, IMHO.

Classic Rendezvous was gonna be my next port of call, need some info on this baby... Herne Hill jumbles are GREAT! Next one's in September sometime, try and make it down, lotsa nice bits to be had for very cheap... Bike minus front wheel was £80, bought a wheel with a matching high flange hub (Maillard) but non matching Mavic rim for £20... I'm pretty stoked! :-)
