I'm thinking of doing one of these two routes this coming Sunday...my 'special purpose' is feeling much better TYVM, and need to get moving again.
Both routes start at the North County Fair mall in Escondido, head over to the beach, climb Torrey and head back via Del Dios. The 'getting there' and 'getting back' routes are different.
Both are aroundabout 57 miles. Since it's coastal...I'm thinking meet at 7 and roll at 7:30.
Route 1: Escondido, San Elijo, Torrey Pines, back via Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, and Del Dios Hwy. (http://www.toporoute.com/cgi-bin/getSavedRoute.cgi?routeKey=HBYRSMIONDGHIYA)
Route 2: Escondido, Del Dios through Rancho Santa Fe, Torrey Pines, Ted Williams Bike Path, Fairbanks Ranch, back via Del Dios Hwy. (http://www.toporoute.com/cgi-bin/getSavedRoute.cgi?routeKey=HODJTHHCCFPHHRL)
Any takers?

I vote for Route 1, as I am not a huge fan of the 56 bike trail. This doesn't mean that I will go, but I can vote anyway. Actually I might go.

Yay Karen! If it's just going to be you and I, then I'll let you off the hook to ride with the Mira Mesa group, kay?!
Dan: I've never (never ever) ridden the 56 path, and to be honest, I'd rather not...but I like the Fairbanks Ranch area and Santa Luz...
I also prefer Route 1, but I have no vote.

I may be able to make it...need to check in with my wife before I can commit. You up for it if it is just 3 of us? I am not a fast rider, so you may not even be riding with me regardless of the same start time.

Sounds interesting. I think I'll join in.
The SR-56 bike path is actually very nice for ride training I think. Not many lights and not many slow ppl traffic. The only issue I find is that the scenery is not that nice. I vote for #1 too since it's more scenic.

Seeing as how the thread's been open only a short time and there's already interest, I doubt it'll just be the 3 of us.
Typical (I mean typical to my limited experience) is that the group stays together where possible; ie: on flat sections or through towns...but splits up on climbs and descents, regrouping at the top or whenever there's a major intersection.

If I'm done with work before 10am, I'll probably be riding around in the area (probably in circles since I have no idea where I'll be) – but I'll keep an eye out for the BF jerseys. Be sure to represent! :p

True. There's nothing wrong with it. It's just boring.

If the BF boys are riding... who needs to look at anything else? ;)

Hmm...sounds like there's enough interest...looks like 5 so far.
I'll (most likely) make a real 'Ride Thread' for (most likely) route #1 (most likely) sometime today. If I'm super motivated (not likely) I'll make a route slip, which (most likely) will have places to stop, and possible post-ride luncheon locales.
