Whoa dude, that's intense. If I ever dare a double, I'm going to pay someone to ride in a big group where there are sag vehicles, rest stops and some sort of credit towards a jersey if I manage to not DNF.
Great stuff!
A solo double century?
Congrats!

I'm doing my first century this Sat, but with a group of about 12 riders. We should average about 17 mph but there is only 2500 feet of climbing. Pretty flat. I couldn't think of doing 200 miles, especially solo.

Nice job! I can barely make it past 20 miles when I'm solo... a solo double takes some real mental toughness (on top of the obvious physical requirements).
Nice! That's an uh, interesting route :) . Did you plan it out to go 200, or just keep adding on until you reached it?

Thanks everyone!!! :)
When I set out, I just wanted to pass my previous longest ride of 131 miles. I felt great on the bike, and just kept going. :D
The route was completely improvised, as you can see

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice!:D
You should definitely give some of the Cal Triple Crown doubles a try. Of those remaining this year, you might want to try the Solvang double in October...the Death Valley one is sold out, and the others are pretty tough, but great routes. The rides are a great way to see California!

The Spring double with the club is looking better, and better :D
Fall - 201 miles with 10,300' of climbing. This route is significantly more challenging than the Spring route - with substantially more climbing and many steep pitches.

You could do 67 laps around the Rose Bowl. It's got those 2 sweet climbs and the panoramic views are to die for.

yes happy times :D
I pop a lot of Bing Cherries this time of year. I always spit out the seeds to keep my weight down. I never wear bibs when consuming Bing Cherries. You just don’t have the control you need for long rides. BTW the only double these cherries have contributed to is bun-wad.
Nice solo!
