Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi distance riders,

Just opened up the latest (Sept. - Oct.) issue of Road Bike Action, and on page 116 is an article called "going the Distance" with 10 tips to help you on a Double Century.

Nothing really amazing, but good general info and advice. Planet Ultra folks Deb and Brian Bowling assisted with the article, so no surprise that the Spring Solvang Double is "crown jewel" of the CA Double Century (they don't say Triple Crown) series.

Well, yes, it is a great double, but not sure what puts Solvang above some of the others, even Planet Ultra others (I like Eastern Sierra better, but that's just me).

Can't wait to see Zap out on a double sometime!

They may be avoiding the "Triple Crown" term to avoid crediting Chuck Bramwell who manages it. And why avoid Chuck? He is a leader in the Ultra Marathon Cycling Association and many "road racers" do not consider the UMCA people to be "Real" racers.
