Hey all! So, I'm converting an older down-tube shifter style bike to bar end shifters. I've gotten my bar ends (dura ace) which I will be using friction only mode on. My problem is that the cable stops (with the handy barrel adjusters) are designed to attach to braze-ons near the top of the downtube about where the old downtube shifters were. Unfortunatly, this particular bike has a clamp on shifter assembly and no braze-ons anywhere near the top of the down tube. How can I solve this problem?

Can you remove the shifters from your old clamp on assembly and bole the cable stops where the shifters used to be.

Nope, its one of those Suntour Symmetric jobs, and I don't think I could finagle a way to take off the shifters and put on the cablestops.
Get any old set of Shimano downtube clamp-on shifters, and ditch the shift levers. Available in a garbage can near you, in your lbs's dark corner where useless parts are kept, or on a trash bike staring at you in your garage.
I grabbed a Huret shifter clamp and a set of screw on stops from another project.
I think Harris stocks the shimano clamp-on double downtube cable stop for $12 if you can't find a free path that works for you.
