Hi, I have a friend with a PW bottom bracket from the early 90s. He was looking for the tool for installing and extracting. I gather from reading that it is the same tool that I use for my cartridge style PW. Am I incorrect? Is there a different tool for the older models? Thanks in advance for information on this topic.
The same two type, consumer & professional, are used regardless of age.

Don't let anyone convince you that you need to buy two of the tools. One will get the job done.

Dirtdrop has it right. I bought two, and realized one would do it, after the job was done. bk

While you can get it done with one tool, it is much, much, much easier with two. At $14 a pop, they are not that costly considering you just drop a C note for the bottom bracket.
I flew solo with the professional wrench for two installs, bought the consumer tool for the third. Did I mention it was easier with two tools?
