Great Lakes - August 1st, a century today?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

The route I will be taking with Steve, it will be my first century this year and it is gonna be hot and windy! I will have to force myself to drink, a shortcoming I have. I'll post the results when I get back.

Good luck, and enjoy. From riding with you I don't think you'll have any issues.

...Did ya make it? Couldn't have been that long!
You're not far from the bridge incident, hope that didn't give you any trouble.

I made it! Head wind all the way back and temps in the 90's. We rode our touring bikes, and had one mechanical issue (STeve broke a spoke, not me for a change) so was kinda slow and relaxed pace. I finished at 112 miles, the longest ride ever for me. I never bonked or cramped. My intake: 3 bananas, 3 litres gatorade, 4 litres water, 2 ham & cheese sandwiches, 2 cokes, 1 bag cheetos (for the salt ;-) ), 3 Clif Bars and a chocolate iced donut. I was only 4 pounds lighter than when I started so did a good job. That is where I struggle, eating and drinking on long, hot rides.
