hey guys, I need some serious help in trying to locate a cessette for a bike I am restoring for my neighbor as a surprise. it is a shimano derore xt m730 hub. i need a six speed cassette. I have located a uniglide on eb_y, but the guy says it will not fit. I have alredy been bambooseled on Eb_y in purchasing one, as you guessed it does not fit. I am running out of time and money. Please help. The bike is going in for paint by th end of next week. Thanks, Jason. Also feel free to drop me a email at jcsereiko@comcast.net
Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't six speeds freewheels? It been a long time since I've had one, so maybe I've forgotten...

Shimano made 5- and 6-speed Uniglide cassette hubs. Dura-Ace Uniglide freehubs used a different diameter threading for the last cog (so they could use a smaller top cog) but as long as the 6-speed Uniglide cassette is not Dura-Ace, it will fit the Deore XT freehub.

This is the coolest website, I thought Harris Cyclery was rad, but this has great prices and better selection!

You could swap out the cassette body for a hyperglide one. Uniglide parts are a pain to get, so I was glad when I sold that bike!
