Forum Suggestions & User Assistance - picture size

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I've recently had a picture removed - the only guidance given was "resize".
Ummmmm....to what size please? Is there a maximum/minimum for pictures? If so, why have I neither seen any guidance nor picture removal due to size before?
I run a 1600x1200 desktop and the picture was 1600x1200. I've posted larger pictures than that with no problems so why this picture, now?

I generally try to keep mine down to around 800 pixels or less. I just don't see any reason to have it any larger. This allows plenty of room to see the picture plus it allows other with slower connection speeds to be able to view the page without waiting a week for the picture to download.
800x600 max is usually the best for display. (But some want even smaller.)
thanks for the answers - will do with resizing (why can't people just zoom in/out? :) )
Well, if it keeps the dial up people happy...

I dunno, I've seen some images so big it took me .007 seconds to download them on my broadband connection! That's forever!
If you uncheck the show picture/avatar/signature options does that still show the link so that people can click if they want to?
