The tires on my hybrid (700x38) have about 1,000 miles on them.
-- How do you judge when a tire needs to be replaced?
-- If I want to go to a skinnier tire, how low can I go?
1. sidewall &/or tread ware (slits, cracks and the like, bead area is fraying...
2. completely depends on the rim size (both width and depth)

That's what I'm thinking, just hoping these rims will handle the size drop. Not sure how to measure them. Guess I will try to contact the bike manufacturer, Giant. Bike is a Cypress.
28's will be fine on a Cypress. Not sure I'd go skinnier
