Im new to it and I ordered ody jpeg lites and i found out there 4" which is a few mm shorter than the ones i have now...anyways does length matter and is it better if they are threaded

Threaded ones are easier to remove when you don't need them, but they sometimes spin, causing them to fall off during long grinds.

You make the call. If you want to ride around with pegs on all the time, go with bolt on pegs. If you don't, and want to do short grinds, go with threaded pegs.

haha i screwed up not threaded as in to put on but you know some pegs that are smooth and others that have lines in em

smooth=grinding
"threads" rough=flatland.

No, just deal with what you have.

A peg is a peg.

Don't hate on something you don't know about. Pegs are quite a lot of fun. I'm not a big fan of gyros, but I definitely wouldn't call them stupid.

Well, maybe you're right. I've tried pegs, but it was a grinding set and I tried flatland on them...didn't work out well. As for the gyros, I absolutely hate them and would never have one on a bike, I'm sorry. Too many of my friends have had issues with them.

What's wrong with an urban MTB?

Well, no kidding. If you used regular flatland pegs for flatland, you would have been fine. I would never have a gyro on a bike either, unless I suddenly had an impulse to put on brakes and got a really nice gyro for free. Some people do really like gyros though because they can have their brakes and have the cables out of the way and it can even increase stopping power when setup right.

i only keep my gyro because it is a expensive setup. and works really well.

Those of us who actually ride real terrain for more than the fifteen minutes it takes to get to the skatepark need a real bike, not a toy. BMX's are fun, but they suck as a main bike.

A real bike eh? a amateur BMX rider can show up good 'urban mountain bikers' when it comes to basic bike handling. We don't have the big wheels or brakes so we have to learn to snake through the park without relying on those sort of things. We have no suspension, so we MUST hit the tranny smooth or it'll A) Be ugly or B) ****ing hurt.

Also, ride real terrain? I'll take it that was a stab at me. You should educate yourself a bit there little boy.

I'm assuming you still think I'm one of the people who ride a mountain bike and try and replicate what BMX'ers do. I'm not. That's stupid. I'm into dirt jumping and what I consider "real" mountain biking. That pic is a good example. I only hang out here because I'm looking into picking up a BMX.

Yes, I own an "urban mountain bike." So what? I don't pretend to be a BMX rider, I just like the geometry, and I got a killer deal on the bike. It spends more time at my local singletrack than at the skatepark. I wouldn't ride BMX-style stuff on it. Hell, it's on 2.5" wide knobbies now.

And in no way was a stab at you, I was pointing out that I can only have one bike at the moment and no matter how hardcore you are, you wouldn't huck that on a 20".

Aside from that, what are you riding in the pic? Or is that even you?

Demo Nine, yes it's me on the Leathhead gap.

And that isn't huckable on a 20" no matter who you are, something of the size is but not that gap.

If you huck anything that big on a 20", you got my respect.
