Pacific Northwest - Seattle Protest Ride Today, Aug 1st

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

For cyclists in the Seattle area, particularly the Fremont area, don't forget today's ride to protest losing the bike lanes on Stone Way.

Clicky clicky here! (http://seattlelikesbikes.org/)

Meet at Gasworks park a 4:30 or join the ride as we loop through the Fremont area until at least 6:00.

Show area residents and businesses that their neighbors ride bikes.
Show them that we want the bike facilities promised to us in the Bike Master Plan then taken back by Mayor Gridlock (Nickels) and local rich b**ch Suzie Burke.

I thought it was a decent turnout. We made our presence known and got coverage on most of the local media. Unfortunately, it seems the majority of the coverage missed the real message, despite the abundance of flyers handed out, a web page to refer to, and interviews with organizers.

Yes, but at least it looks as if Seattle reconsidered the BG trail closure. Perhaps my message to the mayor tipped the balance :) .
