Touring - recessed cleats?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I'm looking to change bike shoes and pedals in the near future. Right now I have some PI 'touring' shoes with look cleats/pedals. I'm looking for a shoe that has a road like design (low top, stiff sole, light and airy), but a recessed cleat. Most of the shoes I've seen with recessed cleats are pretty much mountain bike shoes. I'm looking for something a little less bulky, but that I could still easily walk around in. I don't need to be able to walk long distances, necessarily, but being able to walk in and out of a store would be nice.
Any tips on this would be greatly appreciated. Links, even more so.
I have Lake mtn bike shoes with recessed cleats. They are great for walking and cycling.

Shimano SH-RT50 is what you want. http://bike.shimano.com/catalog/cycle/products/shoe.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441780291&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302050754&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181674&bmUID=1186018644198
I use the previous model, SH-T092, and couldn't be happier with them.

I recently asked the same question about wide riding shoes. If that interests you, here is the link: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=320378&highlight=wide

This is exactly the type of shoe I was looking for!

Can you walk with them? Does the cleats touching the ground?

You might need to use cleat covers. I've never seen a road shoe that has a recessed cleat like this though. I would figure that the PI Alpine shoe would fit your needs perfectly but I understand if you're looking to use another pedal system that requires a road shoe. However nice the shoe is, a road shoe is never going to be as easy and comfortable for walking around in as a mountain shoe.

They are built for MTB style cleats. They are recessed without the clunky lugs of an MTB shoe. They manage to be both stiff and =more= walkable than any MTB shoe I've tried. I use my SH-T092s with Speedplay Frog cleats which fit like they are made for them. I don't slide on linoleum floors in grocery stores.

For a one-shoe solution, consider Shimano (or Lake) sandals. Only pair of shoes I take touring. Bring neopene socks (sized large, so you can get wool socks inside) for rain.

+1 on the sandals if you're ok with sandals. I prefer shoes, but know lots of people happy with the sandals.
