Hi All,

I've been reading these forums for a few weeks now trying to decide which bike to get and finally picked up a Giant FCR-1 for some fitness riding. I have a fairly common cycling background. I've had several mountain bikes, hybrids over the years but none of them were what I'm looking for. I had a 10 speed in college that I absolutely loved and rode everywhere from work to school, etc. I wanted that same ease of riding at a quick pace but also more ergonomically friendly. I think I've found it in the Giant FCR-1.

My reason for wanting to get into cycling again; I love anything with two wheels. I've put over 200k miles on my motorcycles and decided I need to do some of the work and get in shape and improve my overall health. Cycling used to help me with my stress levels so I'm hoping to gain the same.

Hello IIRB, if you put as many miles in on the Giant as you do on the motorcycles, I think you will certainly do a lot to decrease your stress level--especially in Southern California  !

Thanks all! It will be a while before I'm able to go on any kind of distance ride as I'm currently recovering from a health condition, but I'm planning on preparing myself for the Tour De Palm Springs in February. Hopefully along the way sometime I will be able to go on one of these group rides. I've heard of people riding GMR which I used to ride my motorcycle on often. I imagine it's a blast on cycles as well. =]

Hey Ado. I was a lurker, but I used to read socalsportbike forums back around 2002-2005 so I recognize you as one of the posters. Good to see a familiar face, even if you are a Biaggi fan. =P
