Young Clyde and his Ride.

Okay first off I am not sure If I qualify as a Clyde or not, 6 foot 6 210 pounds. My name is Cole, I am seventeen work in a shop in Virginia as a wrench. I have a few rides, but this is one of my favorites, my Specialized Langster 2007. With chopped B17 champion and MD 540's.

I am a racer. This is just my regular rig as of now. I am a serious cyclist logging roughly 200-250 miles weekly. I have now logged over 25k road miles since summer of 04. I go up and ride Skyline every few weeks. My old bike stays in the shop most days and my favorite ride is my langster, when I got it I had trouble spinning 140, now I can do 200 in the heat of the day. My climbing has increased dramatically and I have logged 3 double centuries on my fixie. There is not much me and my fixie can't do, from climbs that people struggle with on they're tripples :eek: or descending afterward with my legs pushing 210-230.

I saw that in the picture as soon as I uploaded it is my brothers airsoft gun I took away from him for shooting me with it, and just tossed it on a chair. Haha.

Is that saddle a home-modified Brooks? I have a spare I've been thinking of trimming up just for fun, but I'm afraid it will collapse. How long have you been riding it?
And are you saying you're spinning at 200+ rpm? That's complete revolutions, not counting each foot coming down as a stroke? Three-plus rotations of the crank every second? If that's true, you don't need any advice from me....

You get forced to learn a good pedaling technique from riding fixed. According to my computer my max cadence is 220 (Polar CS200cad). So I am assuming this means full revolutions. I can't spin this fast on flat 170 or 180 max, but when descending on Skyline or some of the other mountain passes, even full on the brake it wants to go faster than your legs can go. I also ride about 20-30 minutes daily on rollers to develop my pedaling technique. My coach told me that cycling is 80 percent technique and 20 percent muscle. This seems to be true for me.

Yep, you be a Clyde! At your height, even if you drop below the 200 threshold, you'll still be a Clyde!

Clyde = 200+ Pounds and/or over 6'

Sweet ride. I've been thinking about getting a Langster for local commuting - great bikes. I can't imagine doing a double century on a fixie though. You, sir, are a better man than I. :D
