Mini-bikes and drain pipes: It's a whole new kind of racing. Watch the Video (http://www.crankmychain.com/2007/08/this-race-is-pipe-bomb.html).

Be really careful in drains. Check out some urban exploration sites for safety tips. It's really fun but people die doing that stuff so make sure you know what you're doing and what the risks are.

When we were kids (14-15) my friends and brother and cousin used to run around under ground in the sewers. Then I read "It" by Stephen King. I never went into a sewer again. Silly to say, at 32, sewers still kinda make me nervous when I hear the water running in them. I know there are no evil clowns down there, but I still get kinda creeped out. Also, I didn't fear clowns before that book, but after reading "It" and learning about John Wayne Gacey(Sp?), clowns are unsettling to me.
Except for sexy female clowns. Weird.
Also, cool video.

Where is kjohnnytarr? He does this for fun as well.
Great video, Dan. Weird, but great. I liked the mushrooms painted on the sides of the drain. I know this was an undisclosed location, but was this in OR?

Yep, it was here in Portland. The official This Race is a Pipe Bomb will be held on Aug 25th during minibikesummer07, zoobomb's biffday!
You WILL have fun. Or die, or get clausterphobic, or get eaten by a clown. But there is usually free beer at Rogue Brewery afterwards, so that makes everything better...

C'mon now! That's obviously 100% safe. What could possibly go wrong?!? LOL

Thanks for the comments.
From a local, I found out later that there are unfriendly trolls who sometimes inhabit a ledge further down the pipe.

Is the race going to be at an undisclosed location? Will someone have performed the necessary safety checks (we probably don't want any 12 or 13 year olds dying in drains because of noxious gases)?
I don't think that you can argue with free beer (as long as it is consumed in regulated quantities by responsible persons of legal drinking age :) ).

Most definetly, I expect the turnout to be staggering.

Ah, good point. We will probably a safety meeting at least once (or 6 times) during the event. teehheee, randya is the only one who will get that one. chortle!

Minus the regulated, responsible, and legal, yes. Sure to be a good time:)

Hm, I wonder if the "safety meeting" is the same sort as the ones I'm familiar with from hanging around Reedies. ;)
