Introductions - Newbie from Illinois

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Brand new mountain bike rider....
I just bought a used '2000 Schwinn Moab. I don't know a lot about bikes yet, but after reading the posts I think my bike has a decent set-up....Psylo fork, XTR R/D, and LX everywhere else.
I had a Schwinn Mesa about 6 years ago, but used just as a street bike mostly. Now I see how much more fun the dirt is......
(If I could only get in shape faster)
I'm sure I'll have a lot of dumb questiions,
so talk to ya soon
Thanks,
Kevin

Welcome to the forums, Kevin. Always good to have another member from Northern Illinois. Your new mountain bike is certainly a worthy steed. Ain't dirt fun?

Dixon?
Do you ever ride at Rockcut? I'm looking for a good trail map...
Get this book:
"Bicycle Trails of Illinois, 3rd Edition", an American Bike Trails Publication.
This may help your quest- they provide the names and locations of trails, plus maps of the trails.
Welcome to the forums!

Just wanted to add another new rider......
5 yr old Emily just did her first real ride on the path.....
7.4 miles on a 16" with training wheels...
I think I just made a biker for life.....nothing but smiles and wanting to do it again.....
