watch out for spoilers in your title... but you're right. looks like he's riding his ass off right now. tyler's such a stud this tour. he's really the class of the peloton.
oh thanks for that. Don't what THE PELOTON screaming down my head because I spoilt his viewing pleasure....
Mistake,It's not 12km to go it's 27km.

Ullrich and Armstrong drive side by side and will arrive in the peloton.
20km to go and he's still 4:53 up
Team Telkom and Quickstep driving the bunch now. It's a fox hunt. My money's on the fox.
Looks like he will do it.
now 20kmm to go and Tyler is 4:22 up. Loosing about 30sec per 5km. The fox is still winning...
Lets x fingers
tyler is gonna do it.
less than 12k and 4:12 to go.
Marty
15km to go tyler is 4:12 up pegged the gap!!!

Don't know if they can pull back 4' 07" in 10K.
I doubt they can. They'll need to reel him in at 25 sec per Km which they are not doing at the moment. Team Telekom has to push if they want to keep Vinokourov on the podium,

oops... did Telekom fall asleep ?
Didnīt think this was possible.
Respect to Hamilton.
well you also think that Ullrich was faster because his hands are lower on the aero bars. I rest my case.

forget his hands and the bar, just look at his position on the bike and on his results. He was TT-Champion 2 times, he won in Sidney and he won the 1st TT of the tour.

His TT victory over Lance had nothing to do with his position. It had everything to do with Lance having a really, really bad day. Any other day, with the same position on the bike, Lance would have matched him.
It's hard to imagine any real time gaps developing in the next two stages, or in the last stage, so it is all going to come down to the time trial on stage 19. The last podium spot may be up for grabs also, but I think no one will take second place but Ullrich, or if he beats Lance in the TT, Lance. I would watch for some fireworks for third place tomorrow and Friday though.
How does this affect the overall GC? Do you think Tyler may end up on the podium on Sunday?

I think they just said he is in 6th. He will have to make up about
4 minutes in the time trial to get on the podium.

I would not mind being 6th in the TDF ;)
Don't think he will get the podium, but one can always hope.

don't know if he can put 4 minutes into the guys in front of him, but he can take time out of mayo and zubeldia. i'd love to see him on the podium, but i'm sure top five wouldn't disappoint.
4 min is a lot to make up in th final TT. It's goin gto have to be a special effort!

Remember though that Tyler doesn't have to pedal 4 minutes faster than the others, he just has to finish 4 minutes ahead of them. If those guys blow up and lose time, then it's all the same in the end.
Judging from the last ITT;
Vino was 2:06 behind JU
Zubeldia was 2:40
Hamilton was 2:43
Mayo was 5:03
And from the Prologue
McGee - 7:26 total time
Zubeldia - 2s behind
Hamilton - 6s behind
Mayo 19s behind
Vino - 25s behind
So I can see Tyler overhauling Mayo pretty easily, the rest will take something special. Can Vino put in another super TT (since he's never been known as a good TT'er)? Zubeldia will have to crack for TH to overtake him. Will the mountain stages and constant attacks by those 3 guys take their toll?
Andrew
I think CSC may try something on the road to break Hamilton free. If so, then life will be realtively easy for the domestiques of USPS and Team Bianchi. Vino's team will be the one having to answer the challenge.
Fog is right on this one.
Tyler can't make up the entire deficit Sat at the time trial.
He has to go out ala Jaja and try to win via a break.
The only question is how to balance that kind of effort
with having to ride the TT on Sat. Can't burn himself out too
much.
