You are kidding, right? Bring food, water (although there is a pizzaria a stone's throw from the Gladstone NJT). Actually there are a lot of historic old buildings and towns (e.g. Mountainville) which are worth a look.

Here (http://www.milesformatheny.org/cycle.html) are some cue sheets from an annual organized ride that leaves from Peapack, which is basically a pitching wedge away from Gladstone.
Or, head east to Bernardsville/Basking Ridge, north towards Mendham, or west to Tewksbury/Mountainville/Califon ... it's all good!

Here's one that I've already done. It doesn't start in the Gladstone/Peapack area but passes through it. If you rearrange the route you should be able to use it. It does have a few hills (quite a few).

There are plenty of places to stop but you might want to ask for advise and I can fill you in. I have other routes but one has a closed bridge, the other I haven't tried yet so I didn't post them. I don't know when your going to be In Gladstone so I hope I haven't missed it.

Yes, that is a great place to visit after several thousand feet of climbing in 90F weather. I just leave my cleats by the door....
Kidding aside, there are some places to eat, but it is a pretty posh area. There is a little bakery on the Main St. in Peapack that has some nice pastries (gotta replace those carbs...) and the store in the middle of Oldwick is a good place to pick up refreshments or food.
