Mountain Biking - Pfft, this month is off to a great start.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Going along, clip a root, get sent over the bars. I'm fine, but broke the rear brake on the dmr, and gouged the carbon fiber handlebar.

Rear brake was an Avid Juicy 7, bar: Easton Monkey Lite Carbon riser. So off to the shop to get a new handlebar and rear juicy 7. And while in the car, I notice that I must have smacked my head against something. Being that my Giro Flak was cracked in the back. Get the bike all sorted out and go get my head checked, no concussion, just a bad headache. So throw on the new bar and brake and rotor, and am now forced to use my full face helmet on my rides until giro send out a new helmet.

To sum it all up,
broken brake
ruined a carbon fiber handlebar.
Broken Helmet.

Yep a great start to this month.

Sucks about the brake, but the CF handlebar and helmet are almost gimmies in a crash

Dam that sucks. What happened to those mags you had on the dmr?

Was never able to get the rear brake to work correctly. So I just simply donated them the heap and went back to the Juicy 7's

So why did he need a new rotor?

Well...you have just solidified my decision to stick with my cheap old EA70 OS bar and cheapo Juicy 5's.

The helmet...a beautiful story. You could be a freakin' veg. laid up in the hospital for someone to wipe yo butt fo ya!

Makes my night seem better. Drove a few hours down to the GF's and headed out for a ride. Immediately noticed that my big hit was stuck in the granny gear and decided to ride on anyway. Got to the base of the loop I was going to ride and took the SE KY lift up to the top (bike strapped to the back of an ATV) unstrapped it at the top to find a flat tire, but too slow of a leak to find where to patch. Got a ride back to the house and called the 3 mile ride down the road good for the day as it was then dark.
Glad to hear the knock to the head wasn't worse, hope your next ride goes better!
